Acoustic guitar strap is a must if you want to play acoustic guitar while standing. Not only for standing position, straps are also helpful to maintain proper guitar position while sitting. But unfortunately, not every acoustic guitar is equipped to be attached to a strap.
Here are some points to consider when you want to attach a strap to your acoustic guitar:
- How many guitar strap button does your guitar has? Unlike electric guitars, which mostly have two strap buttons, acoustic guitars can have one or no strap button at all. You want to search for the most suitable acoustic guitar strap to adjust to your guitar strap button(s).
- The materials used to make your strap. It may be leather or nylon, but some straps also contains steel on it, that may scratch your guitar. So be careful when choosing.
- Width of the strap. It may be different to each guitar player, but usually acoustic guitar strap is about 2.5″ to 4″ wide.
- Length of the strap. Again, this may vary based on the guitar player’s height and the comfort of the player. Usually strap length is between 37″ and 57″
- Guitar strap button hole size. The standard is 1/4″, which fit most guitar and strap locks. Another is 3/8″, which is required for some straps lock, but I believe this is rare to meet.
And I want to remind you, when you’re not playing your acoustic guitar, please remove any strap from your guitar, because it may cause bad react for your guitar.
